I was born May 1969 in Youghal, Co. Cork, Ireland to Bridget (Bree) Smiddy (nee Colbert) and the late Bernard Smiddy. I am the 2nd eldest of four children, 1 boy and 3 girls.

Educated in Clonpriest National School which celebrated its centenary in 2003.

I have always had a interest in researching my family's history which was made easier by my Mum's vast knowledge on who our family are  related to and where we originated from.

Trained as a chef in Cork Regional Technical College Sept 1989 – March 1991.

Worked in Ahernes Seafood Restaurant ,Youghal in 199? , in Foleys Town House and Restaurant, Killarney in 199? and in The Oyster Tavern in Cork City 199?

Moved to Croydon, Surrey U.K. in 1993 and am still here.

Worked as part of the Set Meals Location Catering Crew on the set of  Saving Private Ryan in 1997 in Wexford, Ireland.

Worked in Cane Hill Forensic Mental Health Unit, Coulsdon, Surrey as a chef from Oct. 1998 until July 2004.

Retrained as an Occupational Therapist in Brunel University, Isleworth, Middlesex in 2000. Qualified in 2003.

Worked in East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, Surrey in Orthpaedics and Care of the elderly from Aug 2003 until Oct 2004.

Worked for Epsom, Ewell and Banstead Social Care Team in Banstead, SURREY, U.K. but due to Business Delivery Review changes within Surrey County I was transferred to the Integrated Rehabilitation Services Team based at West Park Hospital, Epsom in July 2006.
